Congratulations Dave DeStoop Morden Area Foundation’s 2020 Citizen of Distinction!

Dave can usually be found behind the scenes at most events working his magic, making everyone sound and look their very best. But nominators Sue Nelson and Lisa Krueger decided to bring Dave to the forefront to thank him for his generous volunteer hours and support he gives to the community through his business.
The MAF Citizen of Distinction Award is designed to recognize and honor, citizens who have a strong commitment to making the City of Morden and area a better place to live, visit, and play through their long-term commitment by service and excellence in leadership.
Sue Nelson says “I have talked to many people in preparing this nomination. Without exception, people were eager to tell me of their experiences and I cannot think of a better recipient than Dave DeStoop”.
Dave has volunteered tirelessly with his time, technology, and equipment for South Central Cancer Resource, City of Morden, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #11 in Morden , Winterfest, Canada Day Beach Blast at Lake Minnewasta, Hockey Canada Esso Cup, Morden Chamber of Commerce, Morden Area Foundation, Darlingford July 1 Memorial Day, local funerals, South Central Regional Library, and the list goes on and on, never mind the excellent customer service that goes above and beyond duty at his store Morklers here in Morden.
Lisa Krueger says “Dave is passionate about making sure that any event that showcases Morden or helps and benefits the citizens of Morden is done as best as best can be. I know for a fact, that Dave will continue on with his kindness, knowledge, equipment, and generosity for anything that Morden and its citizens are in need of”.
Jo-Anne Robbins of the Darlingford Memorial Day Service says “He will not allow us to pay him or give him a charitable receipt. He just moves in and does his thing and leaves quietly. We never have a worry about that aspect of the service. We very much appreciate his commitment and expertise to our annual service”.
Pat Gibson and Mary Dushenko say “When our computers fail to compute, our printers fail to print, and our WIFI no longer connects, Dave is always available to help the golden oldies here in Vista Terrace. One call and he is usually on his way. What would we do without him?”
Congratulations Dave! You are one of a kind. Thank you for all that you do for Morden and area.
