Opeyemi Akindiose

Director

Opeyemi “Yemi” Akindiose is a lawyer practicing in Morden, Carman, and Winkler, Manitoba. His commitment to community service was shaped by his early legal and public advocacy work in Nigeria, where he was involved in initiatives focused on access to justice, civic education, and support for underserved communities.

In Nigeria, Yemi advocated for the expansion of legal aid services in rural communities, including efforts aimed at improving access to legal representation and helping community members better understand their rights. He also participated in community dispute resolution work and public-interest initiatives involving governance, environmental protection, and legislative reform.

Yemi’s volunteer and advocacy experience has given him a strong appreciation for the role that local organizations play in strengthening communities. He believes that meaningful community development often begins with practical support, careful stewardship, and a willingness to serve where help is needed most.

Since settling in Southern Manitoba, Yemi has developed a deep appreciation for the generosity, resilience, and community spirit of Morden and the surrounding area. He is pleased to serve on the Morden Area Foundation Board and looks forward to contributing to the Foundation’s mission of supporting local organizations, encouraging philanthropy, and helping build a stronger community for present and future generations.

Outside of his community and professional commitments, Yemi enjoys learning new things and spending quality time with his wife and young son.
